Orthopaediusu.com, JAKARTA — The Ministry of Health stated that people who have not completed the Covid-19 vaccine. Including booster doses or boosters can be vaccinated with any available brand of vaccine.

“This policy is in accordance with Ministry of Health Circular Letter Number IM.02.04/C/2413/2023 concerning Renewal of Covid-19 Vaccination,” said Head of Communication and Public Service Bureau of Ministry of Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday (24/5/2023) Evening.

The circular letter signed by the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, took effect on May 22, 2023. The circular letter follows up Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/11/252/2022 concerning Advanced Doses of Covid-19 Vaccination (Booster) January 12, 2022 and according to the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas).

This policy at the same time adopts a roadmap published by the World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Expert Group (SAGE) published as of March 30, 2023. In addition, the Ministry of Health has also considered the recommendation from the Indonesia Technical Advisory Group of Immunization (ITAGI) number ITAGI/SR /6/2023 concerning Recommendations for the Use of the Covid-19 Vaccine for the Community.

A number of considerations from the issuance of the circular letter were reports of clinical trial results from various platforms of the Covid-19 vaccine, that in general, individual antibody (immunity/immunity) titers would decrease six months after the second immunization. “Therefore, it is necessary to give a booster dose to increase antibody titers for long-term protection,” said Nadia.

He said, currently there are still quite a number of residents who have not received the complete primary dose of Covid-19 vaccination or have received the primary dose but have not received the follow-up dose (boosters). In principle, said Nadia, the best vaccine is the vaccine currently available and can be given using the Covid-19 vaccine platform that has received an Emergency Use Permit (EUA) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

“For this reason, people who have not completed the primary and follow-up doses (boosters) can be given the Covid-19 vaccination using the available vaccines,” he said.

The circular letter has been distributed by the Ministry of Health to heads of provincial health offices, heads of district/city health offices, hospital leaders, and heads of health service facilities throughout Indonesia.
